A Little Appreciation

There are so many blessings I would like to write about from 2010, but for now I will start with this. Every year at my school, we have an event called Coronation. Coronation is mainly for the high school, but the middle school is also included in this traditional event. Allow me to explain what Coronation is. The definition of the word coronation is this: the ceremony of installing a new monarch. That's the high school's part. For each class (freshman, sophomore, Junior, and Senior) they have to pick their candidate for King and Queen. The King and Queen are decided on how much money they raise for scholarships. For middle school, instead of picking a queen and king, we have Duchess and Duke. Duke and Duchess is the highest rank below King and Queen when it comes to royalty.

In my middle school class, my classmates chose me to be the duchess for Coronation. It's a really big deal for my school, so it was a very important and honorable position. In order to be eligible for being officially announced as Duchess is that I had to have good grades and have a special recommendation from a teacher. If I was making good grades, but was being really rude to the teachers, they would not want me to represent my grade in Coronation. I met all of the requirements and became Duchess. Even that, I was a bit surprised when I found out I was chosen. For one thing, I am different than most of the kids in school; I wasn't very popular nor am I friends with everybody in my grade, (there are more than 100 students in my 8th grade which are divided into many classrooms), and I am not concerned with being popular. And another fact is that my brother and I are two of the very few Asians inside the school. We only see one or two other Asians from the other grades in the school. The other thing is, I just moved to this school last year. I was still very happy that my classmates chose me and I thanked God for giving me that opportunity.

A few months after that, we had another annual tradition come up. It was called The Favorites. For each grade in my middle school, we were to choose one girl and one boy to fit a category on a piece of paper. For example, one category will say, "Friendliest." I would then choose one boy who I thought was very friendly and one girl that I thought would be the friendliest in my grade. If they get enough votes from their classmates, they will be named the friendliest in the 8th grade. The same will go for "Funniest" and "Nicest Clothes" and so on. To my surprise, I was chosen for "Smartest!" To me, that is the best out of all. I thanked God in my heart for having my friends identify me as such a fine title.

Rejoice always,
pray continually,
give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
(I Thessalonians 5: 16-18)

I want to say thank you to my family for supporting me and being there for me. Without their support I probably would not push myself as hard as I am now to make good grades and try to lead a good life. To my "grandma," Ms. Amy Le, my "aunts:  Ann Seremet, Ngoc Anh and my real aunts, uncle: Ngoc Mai, My Lan, My Khanh, and Quang, and to my parent’s Christian friends, thank you for your congratulatory gifts and prayers. To my teachers and friends, thank you for being with me throughout the school year and helping me find a place at school. Finally, I would like to thank the Lord for blessing me with good friends, good teachers, and a godly family and for a great New Year. Without God, I could not receive these things.
