What's Is Christmas About?
Do you celebrate Christmas? Do you know why you are celebrating it? Well, if Christmas is about Jesus’ birthday, then why is there “Santa Claus?” Why would there be a Christmas tree? What do these have to do with Jesus? How do we know Jesus’ birthday is on December 25? Where does it say in the Bible that every December 25th we have to decorate pine trees and buy gifts? How could the shepherds let their sheep out in the Winter?
When I was around 6-7 years old, my family and I celebrated Christmas, but when we learned about the true meaning of Christmas, we stopped celebrating it. After we found out the truth about Christmas, we threw out everything we had that had to do with Christmas.
Even today, Christians still celebrate Christmas. Christmas is also a pagan holiday. The Bible said to not decorate a tree with gold, silver, jewels... (Jeremiah 10:2-4). Who made up Santa Claus? If this holiday is about Christ, why add Santa Claus? Santa Claus is just a distraction from God, Santa Claus is not the one that gives gifts but only God gives gifts. We need to stay away from these things because they will distract us from God instead of celebrating Him.
Why do we buy random gifts for others when in the Bible it said that Jesus was born in a manger with maybe only hay to sleep in? If we do these things are we really celebrating God or man made things? If you really want to worship God why don’t you gather around and read the Bible together or study the Lord’s Word? Instead of doing these random things that man made up, why don’t we spend more time with God but buying items and talking about Santa Claus? Ask yourself this: why would God tell you to celebrate Santa and gifts? Why would He have you celebrate these things instead of worshipping Him?
Did you know that the word Christmas is also two words? The first word is Christ and the second word is mass. Mass is from the old English language which means destruction or to kill someone or something to offer to God. Christmas is shortened from Christmass meaning the destruction of Christ. About the Christmas tree, this verse is from Jeremiah 10:3-4, “For the customs of the people are worthless. Someone cuts down a tree from the forest; it is worked by the hands of a craftsman with a chisel. He decorates it with silver and gold. It is fastened with hammer and nails, so it won’t totter.” See, even the Bible is against it, so why do we still celebrate Christmas? Why do we buy gifts when we can use money to spread the Word of the Lord? And why do we merry the destruction of Christ? (That is the real meaning of: Merry Christmas!)
Overall, why should we spend money on pointless items? Why should we believe that some man wearing red is going to come from our chimney and leave presents? Even the Bible speaks against it, so why do we still celebrate this foolish holiday? Why do we spend so much money every year for a false reason? Remember to avoid these things because they can lead you away from God. Think about these things and pray for the guidance of the Holy Spirit before you start celebrating these things and other foolish holidays.
