Three Days to See

Three Days to See

Sight is a gift. Without it, we wouldn’t do much. Life wouldn’t be as we know it now.  But if I had three days to see, I would want to make the most of it. Three days isn’t a lot of time. But in this short period of time, this is what I would do.

On the first day, I will first spend time to thank God. “Why would you want to go blind,” you may ask. I don’t want to go blind, but I have to thank God. He let it happen for a reason. No matter what happens, you need to thank Him and for what you lose or don’t have on earth, God will give you something much better in heaven. After that, I will take a walk around the neighborhood. I want to look at the houses I live near and I want to see for the last time the faces of my neighbors. Finally, I would walk through a garden, any place will do, as long there are lots of plants or animals. I would use that time to appreciate God’s creations. I want to appreciate the colors of the flowers and all the creatures that would come my way. I would use this first day to appreciate nature and my surroundings.

On morning of the second day, I would wake up early to watch the sun rise. I have never taken the time to watch it so if I were to go blind, I would do this. After seeing the sun rise up for a new day, I will go and watch one of my favorite comedy movies. The reason I would watch a comedy is because I want to watch something fun, not something that would make me sad. This would be the last movie I would ever see. This would be a good time to appreciate movies. The directors put a lot of time and effort to make movies just for our entertainment, to make us feel good. After that movie, I will read a book. Any book, it doesn’t matter. I just want to value the art of written words while I can still see them. Literature is a beautiful thing and I would use this day to appreciate such art.

The last day would have come so quickly. Of course, I would save the best for last. On this day, I would spend these hours with my love ones, my friends and my family. I would play with my friends and have one last look at their faces. I would have as much fun as I could before I went blind. After that, I will go home to my parents and my brother. We would go out and have family time.  If we were to watch a movie, go to the park, stay at home, whatever it is, it doesn’t matter, as long as we make a memory and have a good time, I am happy. Then, for the final hour, I would go outside and watch the sun set. The setting sun would be the last thing I would see. It would make a wonderful memory of my last day. It would make me less sad about being blind the very next day.

If you had three days to see, you would want to spend those days with the things that matter most to you. You want to be with the things or the ones that you value most. I wanted to spend my three days with the things I wouldn’t be able to see once I have gone blind. I will now learn to be thankful for things I don’t usually think about.
