Grace’s Life Changing Event
Since the beginning of the world, things have been changing. Changes happen every day. The change could be small or the change could alter humanity, drastically. But, what about the personal individual changes that happen in our private life? Those individual changes are the most important changes of all, to each one of us.
It was about eight years ago, there was an important change happened to me. I was born into a Christian family. My father was born into a Christian family, too. My mother accepted Jesus in prayer a year before I turned five. I first heard about Jesus and what he did for us on the cross in Sunday school. When I turned six years old, I wanted to accept Jesus Christ as my Savior. At home, I told my parents this. My parents thought I was too young to understand about why Jesus died on the cross for all of mankind. And, of course, I had to admit that I was a sinner in order to accept Jesus as my Savior. My dad asked me questions regarding these things.
“Do you know what sin is?”
“Yes!”
“What is sin?”
“Sin is stealing, lying, cheating, bad things!”
He asked me questions like this and I answered each successfully. That was the day I changed the way I lived in order to please God.
Each day, I tried to live a sinless life. I prayed to thank God for all he’s given me each day. After I accepted Jesus, I wanted to tell my friends about him. They were the same age as me, so they didn’t really understand what I was talking about. I was a bit vexed. My best friend, Dorothy, who was four years old, always used to come over to my mom’s hair salon since Dorothy’s mom’s nail salon was next door. We always used to play together and talk. One day, she came over after I had accepted Jesus. I asked her some questions like this.
“Do you know Jesus?”
Dorothy shook her head no.
“Do you know where you go after you die?”
Dorothy shook her head no.
“You go to Hell if you don’t know Jesus!” After that, I asked her, “Do you want to accept Jesus?”
Dorothy nodded her head yes. I lead her into prayer. She repeated everything I said. The next day, she brought over her 9 year old brother, David. She wanted David to accept Jesus, too. Since David was older than Dorothy and I, my mom and my dad took him into a room and asked him questions like the questions they asked me when I wanted to accept Jesus. That was the day he accepted Jesus. After that, Dorothy’s mom accepted Jesus, also. Their father had not accepted Jesus and remained a Buddhist. So, not only did my life change, but other’s lives changed too. I was very content with the way I live and I knew God was, too.
Some years later, my brother accepted Jesus as his savior. And since then, I have learned something new each time I read the Bible or listen to my parents preaching or when they have a little short family Bible studies. I also learned fresh things by attending church and listening to the pastor read and explain his weekly sermons. I was always happy to learn new things, even if I did something wrong. I would always try to do my best to learn something from that situation and try to avoid doing the same thing. When I turned twelve years old, I was baptized in the church my parents preached at for about four years. My family and I were a true Christian family.
When I accepted Jesus Christ, my life changed. Life was more than just going to school and coming back home to do homework. It was about pleasing God by my choices and my lifestyle. If I hadn’t accepted and believed in Jesus, I would be a different person today.
